Official: Charlie Sheen Settles Lawsuit With Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre

STS/WENN.com/Newscom One of the most heated and high-stakes Hollywood legal battles is coming to a close. Charlie Sheen, Warner Bros. and Two and a Half Men co-creator Chuck Lorre are settling their $100 million legal dispute. PHOTOS: Charlie Sheen's Colorful Career The studio issued the following statement on Monday: "Warner Bros. Television, Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen have resolved their dispute to the parties' mutual satisfaction. The pending lawsuit and arbitration will be dismissed as to all parties. The parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality over the terms of the settlement." PHOTOS: Charlie Sheen Tour The resolution is expected. Here's THR's full story from last week on the settlement. None of the legal teams is commenting, but sources say the $25 million figure floated last week is pretty close to accurate. That dollar amount includes a reinstatement of the revenue stream from past episodes of Two and a Half Men (even those filmed before his media meltdown) that WB had denied Sheen after he filed the lawsuit. Sources also say that Lorre will pay nothing as part of the settlement. And Sheen has agreed to refrain from disparaging his former boss in the media. The actor has been on an apology tour of late, culminating in his subdued appearance at the Emmys last Sunday. The mea culpa tour has coincided with Sheen's effort to sell his Lionsgate-produced sitcom comeback Anger Management, which is currently being shopped to buyers by distributor Debmar Mercury. An interesting footnote to the settlement is that TNT and TBS, sister companies of Warner Bros. Television, might now be allowed to bid on Anger Management. Time Warner had instituted a no-Sheen policy while the litigation was proceeding. Paula Abdul Still Disgusted Over X-Rated X Factor Audition

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Paula Abdul was so turned off by Seattle The X Factor contestant Geo Godley removing his pants on stage that she left the arena and nearly threw up, and she continued to blast the 43-year-old internet blogger on Thursday. I was first of all shocked, disgusted, offended [and] concerned for the younger kids that were in the audience and their [families] that had to escort them out of the arena, Paula told Access Hollywood during an X Factor promotional appearance in NY City on Thursday morning. It was completely inappropriate, and as you can see, a little bit delusional of him to say I have another song. The fact that he thought that it would be OK to do that is just rather disgusting. Paula was thankful for the 12.5 million viewers that tuned into her new FOX reality singing competition, around 3 million more than tuned in for the debut of American Idol. Its a blessing, its a blessing to be part of a show and Ive been blessed as well as Simon [Cowell] to be on the first day of American Idol, and spent almost a decade with that success and now its all over again with the first day and the jitters and the excitement, she said. Its thrilling. When Simon was first promoting his new show, he told The Hollywood Reporter hed be disappointed if The X Factor didnt bring in 20 million viewers, and it fell short by almost 7.5 million. He said that? Paula asked, when Access repeated Simons first statement. God, if I only had, just a little bit of his confidence that he projects out there. Simon later told Access Hollywood, as his X Factor press campaign continued, that he wanted 10 million in ratings, which the program exceeded. The X Factor returns tonight at 8/7 C on FOX. Head of Russia's Oscar Committee Calls for Giant Bomb/Official Selection to Withdraw on Account of It Sucks

You think the Oscars selection process gets political here? Just imagine sitting in the room when Russia’s national Oscar committee grudgingly voted for Nikita Mikalhkov’s enormous critical and commercial bomb, Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel (Utomlyonnye solntsem 2: Predstoyanie), to become the country’s official foreign language selection. Filmmaker and committee head Vladimir Menshov so strongly opposed the pick of the $45 million flop that he’s now lobbying publicly for the film’s director to pull out of the race. Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel is an expensive period war sequel to 1994’s Burnt by the Sun, a 1930s-set Stalinist Russia drama that won Mikalhkov the foreign language Oscar. The sequel picks up during World War II, but critics panned it for various offenses including bad acting, illogical retconning, and an inane script. With a production budget of $45 million, Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel only made $8.2 million back at the foreign box office when it opened in the spring of 2010. (A third Burnt by the Sun is reportedly in the works.) “Even if we ignore the fact that audiences and critics hated the film, Citadel is part of a series,” Menshov said in the Moskovskiye Novosti daily, via The Hollywood Reporter. “How can anyone who is out of the context make any sense of it?” Mikalhkov has yet to oblige Menshov and withdraw from the Oscar race, but would you? Besides, terrible films wind up with Oscar nominations and wins every year. Granted, they’re usually in technical categories (Norbit, Heaven’s Gate - looking at you), not in major categories. And it’s not like Burnt by the Sun 2 has gotten past the official selection stage to the shortlist or an actual nomination, which is really unlikely now. But Menshov taking a stand against bad movies sets a noble example, and a good question; should a filmmaker decline a shot at an Oscar nod just because most everyone in the world hated their movie? And which bad Oscar nominees from the past deserve to have been pre-emptively taken out of the race on account of bad reviews and terrible returns? While you mull it over, take a gander at the trailer for Burnt by the Sun 2: Citadel. (It’s in Russian, but you get the picture.) Controversy Erupts Over Russia’s Oscar Entry [THR]

While Using Voice turning the lights on for fourth-place NBC the 2009 season and considered a cornerstone inside the network’s mission for just about any ratings turnaround, the man who developed it at NBC, Paul Telegdy, will get an offer: an innovator title as well as the addition lately-evening to his purview. NBC’s current late-evening mind, 31-year NBC veteran Ron Ludwin, is walking lower and segue with a becoming a consultant for your network. Trailer for We Bought a Zoo: Cameron Crowe Likes the Animals But Loves the Humans

Who can think about naked Scarlett Johansson photos today when the new trailer for Cameron Crowe’s We Bought a Zoo has just debuted, amirite?? Take a look at Crowe’s first feature since Elizabethtown, about a single father (Matt Damon) who moves his family into a zoo to turn things around by helping animals and stuff. Also, to fall for impassioned zookeeper Scarlett Johansson. Quite a coincidence of timing, no? Head to Apple for the trailer debut in HD. A few first impressions: We Bought a Zoo is based on the experiences of Benjamin Mee, a man who also relocated his family to a zoo and wrote about it in a memoir entitled We Bought a Zoo: The Amazing True Story of a Young Family, a Broken Down Zoo, and the 200 Wild Animals That Changed Their Lives Forever. Is he as handsome as the trailer emphasizes Matt Damon to be? Does he really have more hair than the other daddies? Fine. So maybe there are a few creative liberties being taken here with the single dad subplot. Which explains why Thomas Haden Church is given cheesy lines like, “I like the animals, but I love the humans,” because OHMYGOD, did he really just say that? Sigh. It’s a feel-good Christmas movie, whatever. And oh, look! A Jerry Maguire-style office-quitting moment for Damon! Classic Crowe. According to this movie, you don’t need any special knowledge to run a zoo. I think the bears and lions and peacocks might disagree in most cases, but fine. I’m onboard. Let’s do this. I’m hot and cold when it comes to Crowe, but I love the balls on Fox if they put this out early to get a jump on that post-ScarJo hacking buzz ahead of The Avengers. (Crosses fingers it’s not just another Elizabethtown.) Verdict: I’ll tentatively buy this Zoo. [Apple]

Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford Are 'Hopeful' About Indy 5

At a free screening of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday night, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford said they are "hopeful" about making a fifth Indiana Jones film. Although, perhaps in a dig at 'Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls' alien plot, Ford announced that his alter ego "ain't going to Mars." "Maybe a fifth..." Ford said. "Next time we get a script for Indiana Jones, I'd be delighted to play the character. Each time we meet him, we wanted to advance the audience's understanding of the character, not just by putting him in adventures, but by learning something about him...that's what led to the meeting of his father [in 'The Last Crusade'], played by Sean Connery, and his son [in 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull'], played by Shia [LaBoeuf], and bringing Marion [Karen Allen] back." When a fan in the audience whooped at the mention of a fifth film, Spielberg joked, "I think that's the one we didn't alienate with the fourth." Other revelations from the evening: Spielberg first got the idea to cast Ford as Indy when he was viewing a rough cut of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' and had to talk George Lucas into seeing Ford as anyone other than Han Solo. When Ford joked that Spielberg has only ever cast him as Indiana Jones, Spielberg insisted he'd first offered the role of Alan Grant in 'Jurassic Park' to him. Wonder how Sam Neill feels about that? Spielberg also explained his (previously stated) reason for not tinkering with his earlier films, a stance that will please fans who are so outraged by pal Lucas's constant revisions to his movies: "I tried this once and lived to regret it. Not because of fan outrage, but because I was disappointed in myself. I got overly sensitive to [some of the reaction -- including parents who had been less than pleased with the guns in the film] to 'E.T.,' and I thought if technology evolved, [I might go in and change some things]...it was OK for a while, but I realized what I had done was I had robbed people who loved 'E.T.' of their memories of 'E.T.'" Hear, hear. Spielberg then polled the audience, who overwhelmingly voted for the original 'E.T.' to be released on Blu-ray. How awesome is Spielberg for giving fans the movie versions they remember? And do you want to see a fifth Indiana Jones film? [via ScreenRant] photo courtesy of Getty Images for AFI
